Erik Deutsch

Erik Deutsch is a media strategist with more than 20 years of experience creating award-winning campaigns. He has a passion for crafting and communicating stories that combine time-honored strategies with the latest digital tactics. In 2004, he founded his firm, ExcelPR Group, to serve a diverse range of corporate, nonprofit, and public sector clients. Earlier in his career, he honed his skills working as a staff member and consultant for global public relations agencies including Porter Novelli, Manning Selvage & Lee, GCI Group, and Edelman Worldwide. An early adopter of digital public relations strategies, he also helped launch Interactive PR News in 1996 (later acquired by Access Intelligence) as the first national news publication devoted to covering the fusion of public relations and digital media.

Deutsch is a past president of the Public Relations Society of America, Los Angeles Chapter (PRSA-LA). Other industry/public service work includes serving as an advisor for the City of Los Angeles’ Greenlight Hollywood Initiative and FilmLA’s Marketing & Communications Committee – both tasked with helping retain and grow film/TV production in the Los Angeles region. He is also an advisor for the Southern California Biomedical Council (SoCalBio) Innovation Catalyst Program.

Deutsch earned his BA in economics from the University of California, Los Angeles and his MA in communications management from USC Annenberg.
