
Olivia Smith is an Emmy Award-winning journalist, media consultant, and AI specialist with more than 20 years of experience as a versatile content creator and storyteller in print, broadcast, multimedia, and digital journalism. She is a co-founder and CEO of Media Consulting Coaches, where she provides training in press interviews, on-camera delivery, content creation, and AI strategy. Most recently, Smith worked on Meta’s GenAI Content Engineering team, where she guided model training and helped optimize machine learning processes for generative AI. Before that, she spent nearly a decade at Disney, where she held inaugural digital roles at ABC News, Good Morning America, and ABC7. Smith has received multiple honors for her work, including National Emmy Awards and Edward R. Murrow Awards. She co-produced Dead Horse Bay, the first documentary from ABC News National’s digital unit to win an Emmy. She earned a second Emmy as part of the Good Morning America team and was nominated for a third for her on-air coverage of the solar eclipse. In addition to her professional roles, Smith also runs a blog called “Get Savvy with Social” and is a published poet and author of a children’s book series featuring a dog detective.
Smith earned a BS in media, culture, and communication from New York University and an MS in journalism with a concentration in broadcast from the Columbia University Graduate School of Journalism. She has taught fall immersion courses for graduate students and journalism courses for undergraduates at USC since 2018. She has also conducted content creation workshops for public diplomacy students and led media and AI trainings for USC staff, faculty, students, and visitors.
