
Nithya Muthuswamy is a clinical assistant professor who teaches research methods, persuasion, and marketing in the Communication Management program at USC Annenberg. Her research and practice focus on communication that transcends cultural and national boundaries, designing effective health messages for diverse populations, and advancing research methodology. Muthuswamy has professional and research experience across Africa, Asia, and North America. Prior to USC, she worked as an assistant professor in the Department of Communication at George Mason University, where she taught courses on health communication campaigns, cross-cultural communication, and research methods. She has also worked for Johns Hopkins University’s Center for Communication Programs and served as a consultant for USAID. Further, she’s published in leading communication journals and received recognition for her work at national conferences. Muthuswamy earned both her MA and PhD in communication from Michigan State University.
