Matthew Curtis

Mathew Curtis has served as a statistical consultant for researchers and business entrepreneurs and worked as a consultant in England examining the consumer decision process and product marketing before joining USC. At USC, he teaches a wide range of graduate-level courses, from research methods to persuasion and influence.

Curtis earned his PhD in social psychology at USC. His primary research examines emotion and the role of comparison, including how individuals and groups compare themselves to others to understand their role in work and social settings, as well as the behavioral and emotional responses to these comparisons. He has also completed extensive research in linguistics, examining, for example, the effects of language contained in jury instructions on jury deliberation and outcomes.
