About the MCM Program

How is the program structured?

A Master of Communication Management degree requires 32 units of coursework offered in the fall, spring and summer semesters. The program may be completed on a full-time or part-time basis. Students attending the program on a full-time basis can earn the degree in one year and four months (across four semesters), and those on a part-time basis can complete the program in two to three years.

Are there any in-person requirements?

No, students are not required to come to campus or attend any classes or events in person. However, online students remain fully connected to the USC community. Students enrolled in our online programs have the same access to campus resources as on-ground students. Students may also participate in the commencement ceremony at University Park Campus in May.

Will my diploma indicate that I earned my degree online?

No. Upon completion of the program, you will receive a Master of Communication Management from USC. There will be no indication on the diploma of whether you earned it online or on campus.

How many students do you accept into the program each semester?

There is not a set cap on the number of available seats in the online classes. However, we are mindful of the student experience and committed to maintaining small class sizes whenever possible. Given that there are three start dates each year, we encourage all who are interested to submit their application.

Do students in this online program have access to campus resources?

Of course! Students enrolled in our online programs have the same access to campus resources as on-ground students. In fact, we encourage you to make the most of your student experience at USC, whether it’s attending a campus event, visiting the USC Bookstore or cheering for the Trojans across our conference athletics programs. Enrolled students can receive a USCard (your student ID) which will allow you access to these resources, as well as many other benefits.

Students enrolled in the program also have access to The Annenberg Digital Lounge. You can get free access to Adobe Creative Cloud and virtual certification courses in tools like Photoshop, Premiere Pro and Salesforce. You’ll also have the opportunity to enroll in online workshops covering a wide range of topics including podcast editing, UI/UX design with Figma, and data analysis using Excel, Python and SQL.

How will students engage and interact in the online classroom environment?

Our classrooms utilize interactive discussion forums and weekly live classroom sessions to engage students academically and socially. There are several opportunities that will require group work. The goal of the program is to give you a sense of community, the same that you would experience in a brick-and-mortar classroom, so that you will be able to engage with all your classmates and instructors.

Is there an Orientation for new students?

Our program hosts an orientation for each incoming class. Orientation is 100% online and self-paced. It provides students an opportunity to test-drive the learning management platform that they will utilize for coursework and engage with their peers through discussion forums and live online sessions via Zoom.

What opportunities for career development does USC Annenberg offer?

Is Financial Aid available?
